Today we feature the sangeet, Hindu ceremony, and wedding reception of Rishi and Dan shot by Channa Photography. The pictures are full of love and tenderness. (This sweet wedding moved me to tears. I’m a sap like that.)
The sangeet took place at Rishi’s family home. Rishi and his mother wanted traditional decor that incorporated saffron orange and marigold flowers. His family worked hard to put the event together and it definitely paid off. I love that the grooms got matching henna motifs with each other’s initials – one of my favourite Indian wedding traditions!

Check out the amazing dance moves by family and friends in the sangeet film by DreamScape Videography. I love how much fun everyone is having!
Next up is Rishi and Dan’s Hindu ceremony. Their floral garlands are a unique combination of red and white roses with blue and green orchids. I’ve never seen garlands with blue orchids before. They look fantastic! I asked Rishi what inspired their handsome outfits:
We were not looking for a certain theme but knew we wanted something complementary. We couldn’t find anything! We did not have a good feeling about the last store that we called. When we asked the shopkeeper how many sherwanis he had, he replied with “Why does it matter, you just need one.” But he was right – we went and both found outfits that we liked and that were complementary!
The ceremony film by Dreamscape Videography is very sweet.
Dan and Rishi’s reception took place at Glen Abbey Golf Club and was immaculately detailed. Dream Party Decor created a nature-inspired stage. Blue orchids re-appear in the grooms’ boutonnières. The cake… you will have to see it for yourself!
I asked the grooms what their favourite part of the day was, and if they had advice for couples still in the planning process:
Our favourite part was that we could have an authentic gay Hindu wedding in the first place, with all of our close friends and family being so supportive and just having a great time. For couples who are still planning: when things don’t go the way you want, accept it and move on to other things. Once it’s all done it will either go well or be a funny story!
Congratulations Rishi and Dan on your marriage! Thanks to Channa Photography for the submission.
