Hello hello! Do you like the new site look? Fabulous changes are in store for the blog over the next few weeks (thanks in part to meeting the lovely Kat of Rock n Roll Bride) but more on that later.
I have a beautiful story for you today that is sure to resonate. California photographer Candice Benjamin went above and beyond for a couple whose wedding day got rained out. From Candice:
Mike and Shruthi’s wedding day was one of the hardest weddings I’ve ever photographed. The outdoor wedding in the mountains turned out to be a wedding entirely in a dull lit reception room. When I say it rained on their wedding day, I mean hurricane-like rain that basically was coming from every direction. I managed to photograph the day to the best of my ability, but it hurt me to see all of their hard work cast aside because we were limited by the venue.
As soon as I got home that night I knew I had to do something. I emailed a few vendors from that day asked if they would be interested in a re-do shoot. I wanted to give the couple the wedding they deserved – an outdoor wedding in the mountains free of rain. A few weeks later we met on a hiking trail and spent time laughing, dancing and jumping from rock-to-rock for photos.
I love everything about this concept. The beautiful, delicate and airy decor helps create a heavenly setting in the mountains. The bride and groom are adorable and obviously crazy about each other. Shruthi’s one-shouldered dress is beyond fabulous, and her earrings are stunning! I asked the bride a few questions about her special days:
What inspired your beautiful bridal look?
I wanted a vintage, lacy romantic look that would blend in with the natural surroundings of our location.
What was your favorite part of the day(s)?
The morning when I was getting ready, and of course when I read my vows. Dancing after the wedding was stress free, since it poured heavily during our wedding. During the redo, I loved it when we were exploring, climbing rocks trying to find photo shoot spots.
Do you have advice for any couples still in the planning process?
Do your research with vendors and location. Try to do DIY projects whenever possible – it makes your wedding personal and unique.
Would you recommend a photo redo for other couples whose day or photos did not go as planned?
Congratulations Shruthi and Mike on your wedding! I wish you the best for your marriage. Thank you Candice Benjamin for sharing these gorgeous photos and your kind spirit.
Readers, I will see you back here next week!
